Detailed trip itinerary

Day 1 & 2: (November 15) Nairobi, Kenya

You begin your safari with a warm welcome upon touchdown by your Kosen Safaris Tour Director who together with your driver and guide will transport you to your luxury hotel to relax and recharge during your stay in Kenya’s capital. 2 hot yoga classes will be available during to your stay in Nairobi Stay: Emara Ole Sereni: Mealplan - B&B.

Days 3 - 4: (November 16/17) Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Rise early and drive to the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. Begin your wildlife viewing right from your luxurious tented camp - its waterhole attracts a wide variety of game day and night. This afternoon, hop aboard an open-topped safari vehicle with your knowledgeable Kosen safari guide to spot both the endangered black and northern white rhino and their fellow brethren of the Big Five. The density of wildlife here is greater than any of Kenya’s national parks. While further tracking the rhinos, your guide will point out other rare species including Grevy's zebra and the Jackson's hartebeest. Visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only sanctuary for chimps in Eastern Africa, and learn about its mission to provide lifelong refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from central and Western Africa. Days 5 - 6: Samburu Game Reserve

This morning follow in the soft tracks of the elephants as you move north to the arid Samburu Reserve. In the afternoon meet your guide for a game viewing drive along the life-giving river. Watch out for crocodiles sharing the banks with elephants, lions, buffalo and even the leopard comes down to drink. Encounter the red-robed Samburu people, still practicing their ancient ways.

While exploring with your guide on morning and afternoon game viewing drives, continue to build your gallery of photos as you spot the rare wildlife only found north of the equator, the special 5- Reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa Oryx, the Gerenuk and Somali ostrich. On this day, you will also have a chance to visit a Samburu village and mingle with the tribe as you learn more about their fascinating culture and traditions. Feel free to join the young Warriors jumping and the women dancing as they celebrate your visit. The Samburu people are the cousins of the Maasai tribe and they share the same customs and traditions.

Day 7: (November 20) Mount Kenya Safari Club

After a leisurely breakfast, you will drive back towards Mt Kenya region and into the world renown Fairmont Mt Kenya safari club. With magnificent views of majestic Mount Kenya, set in over 100 acres of landscaped gardens, this resort offers a unique blend of comfort, relaxation, and adventure. It’s no wonder it has emerged a winner in the 2013 Travelers Choice Awards and that Travel & Leisure Magazine often positions it in the 'World's Top 50' List. Originally the retreat of movie star and Club founder, William Holden, the Club's illustrious former members have included Winston Churchill and Bing Crosby.

Extra activities include horseback riding, fishing, game drives, visit to the animal orphanage, croquet, golfing, and nature walks.

Days 7 & 9: (November 21/22) Lakes Elementaita & Nakuru

Uniquely situated on the shoreline of sapphire-blue Lake Elementaita where hundreds of thousands of birds congregate, is the small and exclusive Lake Elementaita luxury Camp. This area of breathtaking beauty, also home to many rare species of animals, is less than 3 hours’ drive from Nairobi. Evocatively styled to echo the area’s rich history, the camp blends aristocratic elegance with modern luxury and will offer cuisine and service of fittingly high standards. The Park protects over 450 bird species and 15,000 wild animals. Rothschild giraffes have found a safe haven for breeding here, while a diverse variety of terrain shelters many species from herds of giant elands to tiny dik-diks and cliff-dwelling klipspringers

The following day, you will drive deeper into the park for a game viewing drive. Lake Nakuru National Park is a designated rhino sanctuary, and it is one of the best places in Kenya to observe them. Both black and white Rhinos thrive here. Besides the greater and lesser flamingos, the park is home to many other birds’ species including, the Great Crested Grebe, the black necked Grebe, little Grebe, Pelicans, Cormorant, African Darter, Egyptian Geese, night Heron, Fish Eagle, grey Heron, Marabou stork, Sacred and Hadada Ibis. Waterbucks are usually sighted along the lake shore, and this is the home of the Rothschild’s giraffe. Baboon, impala, buffalo, monkeys, warthog, impala, reedbuck, and eland are also resident here.

After the game drive return to the camp for lunch. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the Camp facilities such as swimming. Nature walks, Biking, horseback riding safari and boat safaris are available at extra cost.

Day 10: (November 23) Visit Esupetai Primary School

After a leisurely breakfast we will drive South through some of the most breathtaking landscapes and into Esupetai Primary School. Here BEYOUTIFUL HOT YOGA has partnered with Kosen Safaris and Expeditions to help with the needs at this school. The first project in May will be building a dormitory and beds. Join the kids in a soccer game or join them in planting trees or be a teacher for the day and many more fun activities that can be customized to suit your schedule. After the school visit the Kosen Family will host you for lunch which will include some Kenyan food.

Day 11: (November 24) Depart, Out of Africa

Spend this last morning in Narok admiring the unspoiled Africa as you prepare to return to Nairobi. Bid farewell to the school staff and the students you met here in Kenya. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon, the rest of the day at leisure. Later in the evening you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home

Traveling in remote locations can present challenges that may require slight changes to the itinerary. We will always try to run the tour as the initial itinerary. In the event, beyond our control, such as political unrest, natural disasters, overbooking by the lodge, where a change is required, we will do our best to keep you close to the original location. It is our intention for you to have the best possible experience. We will try to notify you of any changes as soon as we are made aware of them. If, however these changes cause an increase to the price, the increase will be passed onto the participant.
